Teaching, Love & Care
When it comes to taking care of yourself, there are so many suggestions of what makes for a "better" you. Especially with the new year, there is always that thought of how you can do better than you did the year before. You listen to different podcasts, schedule your wellness so that you don't miss out on your daily walks, change out your desk for a standing one and buy the treadmill that everyone has been raving about so that you can say you're trying or setting up that alarm so that you aren't missing out even on that last 8 oz of water that you need to feel good about yourself.
But when you talk about having to schedule an appointment and take the time out of your day to get there...you're telling me I have to take time off work, that's money out of my paycheck.
It's clear to see where the priorities lie depending on what you are willing to do and the lengths that you would go to when it comes to taking care of yourself. The hope is that if you are working with TLC, that your appointments are made in one place, virtually and that you are able to attend during the spaces of your day instead of feeling as if you have to take time off, fight traffic, find parking, leave your child in said parking lot to keep anyone from taking your car (kidding!), all just to sit in an office and keep looking at the clock waiting for the time to be up so that you can do it all over again in reverse.
Teaching, Love & Care was established in April 2024 with a focused on serving the community and shattering the stigma surrounding seeking mental health care.
The plan quickly evolved into seeing the need for holistic care as clients made it clear that they not only needed assistance in the form of counseling but that there were concerns with their physical health that was obviously linked to why they may not have been feeling mentally well. There were also eating and sleeping habits that were linked or struggles with their faith that came along which could all effect how they are able to combat what life liked to throw at them. The need was there and TLC moved to meet that need by working to contract with dietitians, physical therapists, nurse practitioners and spiritual counselors. The collaborative care model became the focus and making sure that those we care for have a chance to feel wholly well.
So, take your time back. Take care of yourself and make it a priority in your life to strive to be wholly well. Not because you hear that it makes you a "better" you, but because it is what you feel that you need. You wouldn't be here if it wasn't to seek something out and most people aren't led to therapy offices unless they have noticed that need. Reach out and let us meet you where you are because we can't wait to work with you!
